Former New York Golden Gloves Champion and Professional Boxer Lou Llovet opened Lumber Jack Lou's Community Boxing Academy in the year 2000 as a safe haven for "At Risk Youth", thus offering kids a place where they could belong without having to join gangs as well as a way out of having to participate in criminal activity. Spending time in the boxing gym gives them 'street credibility' without having to prove themselves.

Due to financial difficulties Lumber Jack Lou's closed it's doors in 2008, when Lou closed his close friend and fellow Boxer Eddie Haeffer offered a new home for Lumber Jack Lou's Community Boxing Academy at the LONG ISLAND BOXING GYM, Lou and his group of Coach's and Boxers have been there ever since.

Lumber Jack Lou's Community Boxing Academy is a registered 501c3 "Not for Profit" Tax Exempt Charitable Organization, please help us continue to help "At Risk Youth", donations can be sent to: Lumber Jack Lou's Community Boxing Academy, 9 Brandywine Dr, Deer Park NY 11729
